Chapter 8
Chapter 8, Sending Information to Servers, is now available! With this chapter the book transitions from browsers letting you browse the web to letting you interact with it—the browser as an application platform.
This chapter took a little longer than expected to come out. There were a couple of reasons, but one really nasty one was that we found more bugs than expected in the draft code. Obviously the code in the book needs to be correct (otherwise it’s teaching you the wrong things!) so we’ve been working on adding more tests to the browser codebase and doing more code reuse. These things should be invisible to you as a reader, but should mean you don’t need to fix bugs and debug issues as you follow along with the book.
As always, please spread the word if you like what you’re reading, and follow our blog and Twitter. We’ve also newly set up a Patreon for the book, as a few of you have requested. We’re planning to use Patreon funds for hosting costs.
